About Alison Byrne
Alison Byrne has been working within child care settings for the last twelve years. She gained her professional Social Work qualification in 1995. Since then she has worked in a therapeutic children's home for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties, worked within Social Services supporting parents experiencing difficulties with their relationships with their children. She moved on to supporting, advising and training foster carers, caring for children and adolescents presenting emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Since setting up her private practice, she has been working as a consultant and trainer for foster care agencies, residential children's homes, schools and other corporate organisations involved in child care. She has worked alongside several universities mentoring social workers and lecturing in children and families studies. She has also been working with individual parents who are looking to develop their skills and confidence in parenting. Several forward thinking companies have also used this service to support employees who are experiencing difficulties within the home, this has include The Kent Police Force.
Registration and qualifications
It is vital that individuals and companies seeking advice, support and consultancy can trust the person to have the skills, qualifications and expertise to provide the services. There are many people who see this field as an area that needs little training or experience.
Alison takes pride in her training and professionalism and sees learning as an on going process. She holds a Degree in Social Sciences, a professional qualification in Social Work (Dipsw) a Diploma in Higher Education and a Practice Teachers award.
She is registered with the General Social Care Council, a member of the British Association of Social Workers (BASW) and a member of the British Association of Adoption and Fostering (BAAF). She has a portfolio, available on request showing these qualifications with a range of testimonies and a current enhanced CRB check.
